Draft

Privacy Policy

Pre-launch draft. This document is still being written and has not been finalized or approved by legal review. It is not yet in effect, and it will change before Gunsumer opens registration.

How Gunsumer intends to handle personal information. It describes what the service is built to do today; the final policy will come from legal and privacy review.

What we collect

  • Your email address, to sign you in and to let you recover your account. It is never shown publicly.
  • Your username, which is public, and the date you joined.
  • If you sign in with Google: a Google account identifier and your Google-verified email address. We do not request your name or photo, and we do not store Google access tokens.
  • What you choose to contribute, such as Owner Reports and, later, My Safe entries.

What we never ask for

Gunsumer never requires firearm serial numbers, your home address, where your firearms are stored, or your precise location. My Safe is a digital collection only, and it is private by default.

Public and private

  • Your profile shows your username, join date and contribution counts. Member profiles are not indexed by search engines.
  • Publishing an Owner Report shows that you own or owned that firearm, whatever your My Safe privacy setting.
  • Private My Safe entries may be counted, without your identity, in anonymous totals, such as how many members own a model.

Deleting your account

Deleting your account removes your email, sign-in methods, sessions and private My Safe data, and retires your username permanently. Public contributions remain, attributed to "Former member". Deletion cannot be undone. If you sign up again later, you start a new, unrelated account with a new username.

Retention

Provisional defaults, to be confirmed by legal review: sign-in, abuse-prevention and security records for up to 90 days, and moderation records for up to 24 months. Neither is kept indefinitely by default.

Still to be written

Sections on legal bases, your rights in your jurisdiction, service providers, cookies, and contact details will be added during review. Gunsumer will never sell identifiable firearm ownership information.
